AT&T's Emerging Voices initiative has joined forces with CHIKA, a trailblazing artist, activist, and advocate for social change. As a Grammy-nominated rapper and songwriter, CHIKA has used her platform to raise awareness about mental health, body positivity, and LGBTQ+ rights. Through AT&T's Emerging Voices, CHIKA is collaborating with emerging filmmakers and content creators to elevate underrepresented voices and foster inclusivity in the entertainment industry. Her unwavering commitment to social justice and advocacy aligns with the mission of AT&T's Emerging Voices, creating a powerful partnership that empowers diverse storytellers to share their stories and create meaningful change. Together, AT&T's Emerging Voices and CHIKA are driving positive impact, championing inclusivity, and shaping the future of the entertainment industry.

On June 30th, 2022 at The Valentine in DTLA, CHIKA performed songs from her recent album in an intimate Fairytale setting. This fully immersive experience allowed fans to get up close and personal this rising star. Down the rabbit hole and into a fantastical concert space that’s unlike any that fans have seen before, the Garden Tea Party centers on the use of a hybrid indoor/outdoor approach to the performance that gives fans the feeling of stepping into a storybook. The lush, organic feel of the show will reflect the backyard aesthetic of CHIKA’s Emerging Voices Blue Room, with vivid on-site lighting and color projections helping to transform the space for a truly magical, memorable live music event. In addition to the live element, this event was also live-streamed on AT&T’s Youtube Channel and can be found HERE.

I worked closely with the team at Wasserman to create several animated assets that were used inside the event space to help create a fairytale setting. The bulk of my work on this project was creating animated graphics that were projected onto large walls inside the events Blue Room that gave guests a closer look into CHIKA’s rise to becoming one of todays top emerging artist’s. The idea was a large diary / journal / scrapbook where CHIKA is making lyrical notes, sketches & doodles, and attaching memories from past videos and live performances.
